Orobianco is an artwork from the series “Immutable Space”.

“Immutable Space” is an exploration of the dynamic relationship between humanity and nature, particularly through the lens of Sicilian landscapes. The artistic series portrays a sense of permanence and unchanging essence within these spaces, despite the constant influence of human actions and natural forces. The focus on water as a shaping force is particularly intriguing, as water has a profound impact on landscapes over time, molding and sculpting them in ways that reflect both its power and its adaptability. From the saltpan of Marsala to the infinite panorama of Erice, the imported plants of Nelumbo hosted in the Botanical Garden of Palermo with their highly water-repellent leaves, and the overgrown area of pine grove around Erice, each becomes a deliberate choice to depict elements of the landscape that demonstrate the ability to overcome difficulties, adapt, and grow stronger. Regardless of the scope and extent, every detail contributes to an equilibrium. Overall, “Immutable Space” promises to be a thought-provoking journey into the complexities of our relationship with the natural world, inviting viewers to contemplate the significance of place, the impact of human actions, and the enduring resilience of nature.
