Every wall is a door

The image shows a wall on a dune. Before any urban development plan existed, spontaneous private buildings were erected on the dunes, starting with a boundary wall. The informal constructions along the coast of Lecce have their roots in the land reclamation plan at the beginning of the 20th century. People were promised ownership of the land as a reward for their hard work in reclaiming the coastal marshes.
